During our last fiscal year, June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008 Partners for Breast Cancer Care helped 626 Lee County residents. We paid for over 1,000 procedures. Of these, 13 women and 1 man were diagnosed with breast cancer. Our organization covered much of the cost for treatment for these patients.

The 2007-2008 United Way Campaign officially starts on October 31st.

Scott Edmonds, Campaign Chair and CEO of Chico’s FAS will host the Annual Campaign Kick-Off at the Harborside Event Center.

The theme for this year's campaign is “Giving Rocks.”  Giving is one of the rocks upon which our community is based. Our agency is one of the Partner Agencies that receives funds from the United Way of Lee Hendry and Glades.  By giving to the United Way, you not only help our agency, but 70 partner agencies of the United Way.

When asked what was the most important message he could send to the community Edmonds replied, “Many people within our community have been adversely affected by the slowdown in the economy.  This slowdown has caused a dramatic increase in the number of families seeking assistance from United Way supported programs and initiatives.  For those who have generously contributed to United Way in the past, we need your help now more than ever.  For those who have not contributed in the past, you could be an integral part of this very important endeavor.  By supporting United Way in helping our neighbors receive the assistance they need, together, we can make a difference in our community.” 

All money raised in the United Way campaign stays in the local community to help support local partner agencies like ours.  In addition to raising funds, United Way promotes partnerships and collaborations among agencies, helping us to work together focusing on issues and solutions that continue to improve lives.
