Blu Sushi Goes Pink for the month of October to benefit Susan G. Komen. Partners for Breast Cancer Care supported the event by attending and raising awareness for breast cancer. Although, in general, the crowd was predominately 30ish, discussing the importance of doing self breast exams hummed through the crowd. When the DJ, Zito at 99X, was told men can get breast cancer too, he seemed to take it seriously even though giggles broke out in the crowd. All in all, it was a great event and thank you to Blu Sushi for their generosity.

Building Better Lives

Rutenberg check presentationLyons Housing Corp and A.R.B.C. Corp., both Arthur Rutenberg Homes builders have once again chosen Partners for Breast Cancer Care and the Immokalee Child Care Center as the two recipients of their annual fundraising event to better the lives of the people in Collier and Lee counties.

These two corporations set aside a donation from the sale of each home built to this program. Since the inaugural program in 2001, over $176,000 has been donated to our program alone. We are so appreciative of Mr. Bobby Lyons and Mr. John Globetti for selecting our program. A check was presented on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at one of their beautiful homes located in Miromar Lakes. The “Building Better Lives” program has again won a Pinnacle Award for Community Relations from the Lee Building Industry Association for this program. We agree with their selection.

Our President, John Naylor, accepted a check from Lyons Housing Corporation for $50,500 and presented Mr. Bobby Lyons with a glass building block in appreciation. Dr. John Worden, the founder of our program and case manager Janet Darnell are also holding the check. Our program has been overwhelmed with the dedication to our program and each of the Board members realize the importance of each dollar raised.

We are forever indebted to Norma and Bobby Lyons, and Tim Rose of Lyons Housing Corporation.

We have again been chosen as a recipient for 2006.

From Our Hearts, Inc.

On April 11, 2005 we were presented with a check for $35,000! This money was primarily raised at “Breastfest” held on March 19, 2005 in St. James City Civic Center. A 5K walk was held in the morning and then music played all day long. The staff and volunteers from Partners participated in the event, and a great time was had by all.
